Establishment of the Foundation

The Foundation originated in the Latin Quarter of Paris, where a young couple met. The Foundation was established from a fruitful love that reached beyond the national borders of France and Japan. Due to the tragedy of Paul Bourdarie having lost his beloved wife Kiyoko Goto to a form of lung cancer, the Foundation will contribute to eliminating cancer, particularly lung cancers.

The “Kiyoko Goto and Paul Bourdarie Cancer Foundation” was established on March 14, 2012 by Paul Bourdarie in memory of his beloved wife Kiyoko Goto who died of lung cancer when she was 66.

In order to contribute to the elimination of cancer (especially those of the lung), we will award prizes to Japanese scientists/doctors who have published research papers on cancer.

Paul BOURDARIE passed away on January 15th 2021 at the age of 89.
